Dental Bridges

Has tooth loss left a gap in your mouth and erased the smile from your face?

A dental bridge can replace one or a few missing teeth and bring your smile back.

My Mouth Dental/My Kidz Mouth Dental in Rowlett, TX, uses high-quality bridge materials for years of beauty and function.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge consists of one or more replacement teeth supported at both ends by either natural teeth or dental implants. If you are looking to restore your smile, a dental bridge is a reliable and versatile option. You can replace just one tooth or a row of teeth.

The skilled dentists at My Mouth Dental/My Kidz Mouth Dental in Rowlett, TX, design dental bridges out of high-quality material that lets you smile confidently and eat the foods you love.

We Offer All Types of Dental Bridges

/

Dr. José Montoya at My Mouth Dental/My Kidz Mouth Dental in Rowlett has the training that allows him to offer patients a choice of either traditional or implant-supported bridges.

Traditional Bridges

With a traditional dental bridge, the natural teeth on either side of the gap are used to support the dental bridge.

A Fast, Affordable Solution

A traditional dental bridge consists of two dental crowns or "caps" that attach to natural teeth on either side of the gap and support artificial teeth (called pontics) that replace your missing teeth. The natural teeth supporting the crowns must be reshaped to allow the crowns to fit over them. In most cases, a traditional bridge can have up to three pontics.

Traditional dental bridges are the fast and affordable solution when you have a missing tooth or a few missing teeth in a row. The skilled dentists at My Mouth Dental/My Kidz Mouth Dental partner with a lab that uses advanced dental materials that allow them to design bridges that blend in with your other teeth while restoring your bite.

Implant-Supported Bridges

Dental implants are small titanium posts that are inserted into the jaw. They act like tooth roots and encourage your body to replenish bone in the jaw.

Implants Provide Incredible Advantages

An implant-supported bridge does not need natural teeth to support it. Instead, small titanium posts called dental implants are inserted into the jaw where they fuse with the bone. The dental bridge is then attached to these artificial tooth roots, which provide a secure foundation for decades, or even a lifetime. Implants provide important and unique benefits:

  • With implants, you won't need an entire bridge if you are missing just one tooth. That's because a single dental implant can hold the artificial tooth that will fill the gap. However,  if you have several consecutive missing teeth, an implant-supported bridge is capable of supporting more pontics than a traditional bridge. In fact, implants can support an entire denture.
  • Implant-supported bridges take more time and do cost more, but the health benefits are well worth the investment. Implants stimulate bone growth and prevent the deterioration of the jaw that accompanies tooth loss. Implants provide an incredibly secure foundation for bridges and dentures alike, solving many problems with missing teeth.

Treatment Timeline For Traditional Dental Bridges

Each case is unique depending on the type of bridge you choose and if you need preliminary work before receiving a bridge. However, in general, this is what you can expect when getting a traditional bridge:

We work with a trusted lab that takes the extra time to hand-finish your dental bridge for a beautiful, comfortable restoration.
We work with a trusted lab that takes the extra time to hand-finish your dental bridge for a beautiful, comfortable restoration.

Preparation

Our dentist will numb the area to ensure your procedure will be comfortable. If you have a sensitive gag reflex or anxiety, we also offer sedation so that you can feel comfortable throughout treatment.

Tooth Shaping

The teeth that support the bridge are shaped to accept the crowns that are part of the bridge restoration.

Impression

After the teeth have been shaped, the dentist will take an impression of the treatment area. The impression guides the design of the dental bridge so that it fits comfortably, meshes well with your other teeth, and looks natural.

Temporary Bridge

Our dentist will make a temporary bridge for you to wear while your permanent bridge is being fabricated at our trusted lab, which typically takes less than two weeks.

Bridge Placement

During a second visit, the dentist will remove the temporary bridge and check how the permanent one fits. If necessary, the dentist will make adjustments to ensure you have a comfortable bite. Once you and the dentist are satisfied with the look and feel of the bridge, it will be cemented in place.

Are you considering a dental bridge supported by dental implants instead?
