How Endodontic Visits Work What Patients Should Know
Endodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on treating soft tissue within the tooth. A root canal procedure, or simply just a root canal, remove infected dental pulp to eliminate tooth pain and protect the rest of your teeth from infection.
Treating Root Canal Infections
A root canal infection occurs when bacteria reaches the pulp chamber within a tooth. The infection of the pulp can be extremely painful. Left untreated, the infection can spread throughout the mouth. Endodontic therapy removes the infected dental pulp to prevent more serious health problems.
Capping the Infected Tooth
An endodontist clears the infected tissue from the pulp chamber and then fills the chamber with an inert material. The treated tooth is capped with a custom crown. This durable cap protects the underlying tooth structure and allows endodontic patients to bite and chew normally.
Relieving Pain and Discomfort
After undergoing endodontic care, your teeth will be healthy for years to come. The infected tooth is now free from diseased pulp. The custom restoration provides protection from further issues. You should no longer experience soreness, tooth sensitivity, or throbbing pain.
The Benefits of Endodontic Treatment
Prevented Spread of Infection
Untreated root canal infections can spread inflammation to other teeth, your gums, and your jaw. This may result in an abscess and other serious health issues. An endodontist can eliminate infection before it gets worse. No Need for Tooth Extraction
A severe infection typically requires tooth extraction. With timely treatment, though, you won't need to lose any of your teeth. Maintaining as many natural teeth as possible is better for your health in the long run.Restored Bite Function
With a full and healthy set of teeth, you'll be able to eat your favorite foods without toothaches or difficulty. You won't have to restrict your diet or avoid certain kinds of meals because of pain.Excellent Smile Aesthetics
The crown placed during endodontic treatment doesn't have to be made of metal. Working with endodontists, we can place durable, tooth-colored porcelain crowns which blend in with your natural teeth.Speak with Skilled Dentists About Improving Your Oral Health

Five Star Reviews for Our Trusted Rowlett, TX Dentists
Highly recommended. My family visit was quick, easy and staff is great. Dr Ramsey is GREAT because not only does she takes her time to explain what all she did or if there’s something you should or shouldn’t do to continue great dental health, but she shows she generally cares. I will definitely be going back.

Advanced Technology
State-of-the-art diagnostic tools help dentists and endodontists perform their jobs more effectively. In addition to digital x-rays that minimize radiation exposure, our office has advanced imaging that offers three-dimensional views of a tooth. We also use an Electronic Apex Locator to determine the length of each tooth root, ensuring that the canals are cleaned thoroughly.

Sedation Techniques
Although root canal treatment is rarely painful, many people are still afraid of treatment. To help patients relax, we provide a number of different sedation dentistry options. Nitrous oxide or laughing gas allows patients to feel more relaxed almost immediately. We also have an anesthesiologist to administer more advanced sedation if necessary.

Pain Management
Endodontic treatment has a bad reputation when it comes to pain, but it's undeserved. Anesthetic during the procedure eliminates discomfort. After the endodontic visit, any soreness can be managed at home using ibuprofen or Tylenol, and by following our detailed instructions for aftercare.

Patient Education
To further reduce worries about your root canal, we take time to explain the procedure to you step-by-step. We'll offer the logical and clinical reasoning behind the procedure, and will happily answer any of your questions. Patient education is a form of empowerment and learning about the procedure from a trusted endodontist can help you feel more comfortable.
Endodontic Treatment Cost and Payment Options
Insurance Coverage
Endodontic visits are covered by the majority of dental insurance plans. As policies vary, be sure to check with your provider for details on eligibility. We can work with you and your insurance provider to ensure you get the help and treatment you need.
Payment Plans and Financing
If you are uninsured and the cost of endodontic treatment is outside of your means, payment plans are available. We offer a Wellness Plan and third-party financing through CareCredit. Both of these options make endodontics more affordable for your household.
