Prioritizing Our Patients' Health & Safety

Dear patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• If you are sick or concerned you might be sick, please cancel your appointment. You will not be penalized in any way for the cancellation, even at the last minute.

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. When you get to the office, you are asked to remain in your car and call our office number 972-412-5064. A staff member will come out to you and you will be asked those same screening questions again and have your temperature taken before entering the office.

• If you are a new patient, we would really appreciate you using the online patient portal to fill out paperwork prior to your appointment.

• We will ask you to immediately wash your hands with soap and water when you enter the office.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. There will also be very few chairs present to avoid crowds in the waiting room. Computers will have disposable covers and counter tops, door handles, waiting room chairs and surfaces will be disinfected with increased frequency.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment. We will also ask that only the patient, and in necessary cases a legal guardian, enter the office. Older children and adults are requested to experience their appointments alone while family members remain in the car and/or waiting room.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 972-412-5064 or visit our website at www.mymouthdental.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,
Dr. Ramsey, Dr. Montoya and Team

If your smile is affected by multiple cosmetic issues, a smile makeover provides an excellent way to enhance its appearance. This personalized treatment is entirely customized to your aesthetic goals, personal preferences, and budget. What is a smile makeover?

smile makeover
A smile makeover combines at least two cosmetic procedures.

A smile makeover is a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Your dentist can combine any number of cosmetic procedures, including teeth whitening, dental bonding, and porcelain veneers.

Am I a candidate for a smile makeover?

Due to the flexibility of a smile makeover, almost any patient is a candidate for treatment. However, if you have underlying oral health issues such as gum disease, you should seek restorative care before undergoing any cosmetic procedure. Your dentist can carefully examine your smile to determine whether you qualify.

Is there an age limit for these procedures?

For the most part, there is no age limit for cosmetic dental treatments. As long as you have good oral health and can safely undergo the included procedures, you should be able to receive a smile makeover.

Due to the flexibility of a smile makeover, almost any patient is a candidate for treatment.

What will my treatment involve?

Your treatment plan will depend entirely on your goals for your smile. No two patients have the same cosmetic goals, which is why each makeover is unique.

Which procedures are most commonly included?

A wide range of cosmetic procedures are incorporated into smile makeover treatment plans, including porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, dental bonding, and gum contouring. Some patients also undergo orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® or traditional braces.

How many treatments can I incorporate into a smile makeover?

There is no limit to how many treatments you can include in your plan. You may find that two or three procedures is enough to meet your needs. However, your dentist can advise you how best to achieve your aesthetic goals. Keep in mind that sometimes, performing treatments in a particular order will produce the most beautiful results.

How long will my smile makeover take?

The duration of your treatment will depend on the number and type of procedures, as well as the extent of the changes you want to make. Some smile makeovers take as little as one office visit, while others may require several weeks of treatment. For patients who add orthodontic treatment to their smile makeover, the timeline will be longer.

Is there a way to preview my results?

Many dentists integrate advanced technologies into treatment. Virtual smile design software allows dentists to provide a preview of your expected results. Talk to your dentist about the tools that can be used during your smile makeover.

How much does a smile makeover cost?

Each smile makeover is unique in scope, meaning the cost of a smile makeover can vary significantly from patient to patient. The overall price of your makeover will depend on the number of procedures included as well as the types of treatments you choose. Other factors can affect your treatment costs, including your geographic location and your dentist’s experience.

Will my dental insurance cover a smile makeover?

In general, insurance does not pay for purely cosmetic work. However, if one or more of your procedures provides a health benefit, your insurance may cover part of your makeover plan.

Do smile makeovers hurt?

Most cosmetic dentistry treatments involve little to no discomfort. Some patients notice a feeling of mild pressure during the placement of porcelain veneers or dental crowns. Most patients find local anesthetic is sufficient to keep them comfortable during treatment. However, if you experience dental anxiety, you can discuss sedation options with your dentist.

How can I maintain my results?

The most effective way to maintain the results of your smile makeover is to exercise good oral hygiene habits. Brushing and flossing your teeth daily and attending regular office visits can keep your teeth looking strong and vibrant for years to come. You can also minimize dental staining by avoiding dark-colored foods, such as wine, tea, and coffee.
